Mengembalikan / menampilkan Task Manager

Seperti halnya mengembalikan atau menampilkan Folder Options yang hilang, atau Run begitu juga dengan Task Manager yang tidak bisa di tampilkan karena sengaja disembunyikan oleh admin komputer maupun karena serangan virus.
Bila komputer anda mengalami masalah Task Manager tidak bisa di tampilkan dan pada saat anda menekan CTRL + ALT + DEL (tanpa plus) muncul pesan seperti berikut

sudah tentu bahwa DWORD value dalam regedit yang bernilai 0 (nol) sudah di ubah menjadi 1 (satu), nah untuk mengembalikannya ikuti langkah-langkah berikut :

Langkah pertama

Ini dilakukan dengan asusmi bahwa komputer anda sudah terbebas dari virus (lakukan pembersihan virus pada komputer anda terlebih dahulu)
Masuk regedit dengan cara ketik regedit pada run menu, caranya klik start - run kemudian ketik regedit dan tekan Enter atau klik OK

Langkah kedua

Klik menu Edit kemudian pilih Find dan ketikkan kata DisableTaskMgr (penulisan tidak tegantung huruf kecil/besar) kemudian klik Find Next hingga menemukan data seperti berikut

bila sudah menemukan data seperti di atas maka ikuti langkah berikut ini

Langkah ketiga

Mengubah Value data DisableTaskMgr dengan cara double klik pada kata DisableTaskMgr dan ubah angka 1 (satu) menjadi 0 (nol) dan tekan ENTER atau klik OK dengan maksud agar Task Manager di enable kan

Langkah keempat

Tutup regedit dan coba tekan CTRL + ALT+ DEL

Cegah Perubahan Password

Bayangkan apa yang terjadi kalau ada orang yang tahu password Anda untuk login ke Windows dan menggantinya ke password lain. Wah, repot. Anda bisa-bisa tidak bisa lagi masuk ke Windows, sementara orang itu bisa mengobrak-abrik file Anda. Berikut ini adalah tindakan pencegahannya.

Cara Pertama adalah dengan menyembunyikan Control Panel karena di situ ada fitur untuk mengatur password. Caranya begini
1. Membuka file “Control.ini” yang ada di “C:\Windows\” dengan Notepad.
2. Lalu di bawah bagian [Don’t load], tulis “password.cpl=no”.
3. Simpan file tersebut pada folder yang sama, tutup Notepad, lalu restart komputer.

Perkuat keamanan dengan mengutak-atik registri sehingga orang lain tidak dapat mengganti pengaturan pada [Control Panel]>[Password]. Begini caranya
1. Buka registry Editor dengan mengklik [Start] lalu [Run]. Ketik “regedit” lalu klik [OK].
2. Cari subkey : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System.
3. Pada panel Registry Editor sebelah kanan, buatlah value nama baru. Caranya, klik kanan pada System, lalu pilih [New]>[DWORD Value]. Beri nama value nama tersebut dengan “NoSecCPL”. Jadi Anda ingin mengembalikan seperti semula, gantilah nilainya pada Value data menjadi 0.
4. Setelah itu klik kanan pada [NoSecCPL] kemudian klik [Modify]. Isi value data dengan nilai 1, klik [OK].
5. Untuk melihat perubahannya, tutuplah jendela Registry Editor kemudian restart komputer Anda.

Bersihkan Hard Disk dengan 1 Klik

CCleaner adalah peranti lunak untuk bersih-bersih hardisk. File yang sudah tidak dipakaim jejak (baca: cookies) yang ditinggalkan halaman-halaman situs web, file yang ditinggalkan oleh program yang sudah dihapus, dan sampah lain bisa dibersihkan.

Apa yang dilakukan untuk membersihkan hard disk dengan CCleaner? Tiap kali mampu bersih-bersih, kita sering kali langsung membuka CCleaner, klik [Analyze], dan klik [Run Cleaner]. Wus! Hard disk langsung bersih.

Tapi proses-tiga-klik seperti itu belum terlalu sederhana. Anda bisa mengatur supaya tiga langkah itu jadi satu langkah saja. Jadi, setiap kali CCleaner dijalankan, bersih-bersih otomatis dilakukan. Oh ya, barangkali Anda belum punya CCleaner, silakan kunjungi situs web beralamat http://www.ccleaner.com/.

Berikut ini adalah langkah untuk mengubah proses-tiga-klik menjadi proses-satu-klik.
1. Pertama klik sekali pada shortcut CCleaner, tekan tombol [Ctr]+[C] pada keyboard, lalu tekan tombol [Ctr]+[V] juga pada keyboard sehingga tersalinlah shortcut CCleaner dengan nama “Copy of Ccleaner”.
2. Ubah nama shortcut tersebut dengan mengklik [F2]. Beri nama shortcut itu dengan “Auto Cleaner” atau apa sajalah, terserah Anda.
3. Setelah itu klik kanan shortcut yang namanya baru saja diganti. Klik [Properties].
4. Pada bagian [Target], tambahkan parameter “/AUTO” pada akhir perintah. Jadinya seperti ini “"C:\Program Files\CCleaner\ccleaner.exe"/auto”.
5. Klik [Apply] lalu klik [OK].
6. Coba jalankan shortcut yang baru saja Anda buat. Alhasil, Anda tidak akan menemukan jendela CCleaner lagi, karena CCleaner sudah langsung membersihkan semua jejak dan sampah.

Awasi Folder yang Dibagi-pakai

Orang yang komputernya ada dalam jaringan semestinya tidak asing dengan urusan bagi-pakai (share). File yang dibagi-pakai bisa dilihat, disalin, bahkan diubah. Ketika computer sedang dipakai untuk pekerjaan berat, eh ada orang yang menyalin file yang dibagi-pakai. Kalau sudah begitu, kerja komputer bisa melambat. Makanya, file yang dibagi-pakai perlu dipantau.

Supaya lebih jelas, ikuti langkah-langkah berikut ini untuk memantau folder yang sedang dipakai.
1. Buka Control Panel lalu pilih menu [System and Maintenance] > [Administrative tools] > [Computer Management]
2. Klik [Shared Folders] di bawah “Computer Management (local)\System Tools”.
3. Nah dari menu ini, tampaklah computer yang sedang mengakses folder yang di-share. Selain itu, ada juga informasi tentang folder dan file yang sedang diakses.
4. Jika Anda ingin memutus koneksi, lakukan klik kanan pada file atau nama computer, lalu klik [Close Session].

Dari tempat yang sama, pengguna computer bisa juga menghubungkan diri ke computer lain. Caranya, klik kanan [Shared Folders] atau [Computer Management(local)]. Klik [Connect to Another Computer]. Ketikan alamat IP, atau kalau tidak ingat, klik [Browse]. Klik [Advance] lalu lakukan pencarian dengan menekan tombol [Find now]

Manage file type and extension associations with the "assoc" command

This tool is very useful for managing the relationship or association between file extensions and file types. the syntax is

assoc [.ext[=[fileType]]]

If the plain command "assoc" is entered, you will get a list of what file types correspond to the extensions currently registered on the system. The list can be quite long so it is best to redirect to a file or to pipe to the "more" command so that one full screen at a time can be viewed

assoc > list.txt or assoc | more

If the only parameter is a file extension (including the leading period), the file type for that extension will be given. For example, to see what file type is associated with .txt , enter

assoc    .txt

Since the names used for the various file types may not always be obvious, the above can be a useful type of command, In this case, the output would normally be

.txt=txtfile. .

To delete the file type association for the file name extension .xyz (use with care), enter

assoc .xyz=

Another use is to associate a given extension with a certain file type. As an exampl
e, to associate the extension .log with type txtfile, enter

assoc .log=txtfile

Note that more than one extension can be associated with a file type. For example, the file type "jpegfile" typically has both the extensions .jpg and .jpeg associated with it. Also note that it is possible to create your own file extensions and to associate them with a filetype.

Changing file attributes with "attrib"

In addition to their actual content, files also have a set of properties that characterize them (sometimes called metadata.) One set of these properties are the four attributes read-only, hidden, system, and archive. The archive attribute is primarily used in backup procedures but the other three can be encountered in various contexts. These attributes can be turned on or off with the command "attrib" and its switches.
The great utility of this command is that it can act on subfolders with its switch "/s" and can use the wildcard "*". For example, to clear the read-only , system, and hidden attributes from a file use



attrib -r -s -h somefile

This operation is not uncommon when system files have to be edited. To restore the attributes the command is



attrib +r +s +h somefile

A common situation where it is desirable to clear the read-only attribute from many files is when files are copied from a CD. By default CD files are normally marked read-only. This can interfere with editing. To clear the read-only attribute from all files in a folder and its subfolders use


attrib -r somefolder\*.* /s

If you want to process all files of a certain type such as MP3, use


attrib -r somefolder\*.mp3 /s

How To Wipe Disk Drives, And Why

Data security has become a bigger concern as the information age goes into full swing. Computers are becoming more and more commonplace as versatile tools for a wide variety of tasks and uses. This has made digital storage increasingly the data storage format of choice, since digital information is easily accessed and processed by computers.

This has led to a rise in interest in digital information and data storage systems. Apart from developments in hardware technology that allow bigger capacity devices with faster access times, security has also become a prime consideration. Most software and programs nowadays come equipped with varying levels of security options. For instance, it is now possible to protect almost any file with a password such that only those who can provide the correct password would be able to access the information within the file.

However, these software security measures would not stand up to dedicated data extraction efforts, in particular those involving the actual physical hardware. Physically securing the hard drive (or other data storage device) under consideration may not always be possible or practical. Another way of ensuring that important data is not placed at risk is to wipe the disk.

Simply deleting the contents of a hard disk is not enough to ensure that they are not recovered. In fact, there are software utilities that allow the recovery of deleted data. This possibility is because when a file is deleted, it is not actually overwritten or removed from the hard disk. Instead, a marker is just associated with the file to say that it has been deleted, and the space it occupies on the disk is marked available for use. This means that the data in the file remains on the disk for the knowledgeable hacker to extract and view.

Wiping a disk, on the other hand, is a much more thorough process. In a disk wipe, all data to be wiped off is actually overwritten with random data. This eliminates almost entirely the traces that a normal deletion leaves behind, and makes recovery of data practically impossible. (In theory, it would still be possible to reconstruct the data lost after a hard disk wipe, but this would require high-powered microscopes and would proceed much too slowly to be useful!)

Performing a disk wipe is facilitated by the many disk wipe programs available. There are many free options, as well as commercial software options, which may differ in terms of functionality and documentation. The majority of these are available online, which makes it quite easy to browse through and find the most appropriate program for the specific task. Some programs are designed for use on a single personal computer, while others may be designed for use on batches of computers.

Confidential data that needs to be kept from being exposed may best be hidden by using a disk wipe. This simple additional security measure makes the recovery of deleted data nearly impossible. With the many disk wipe programs available, it is easier than ever to perform a disk wipe, even for casual users, making this a real data security option.
